How It Works
CoTraveler makes it safe and straightforward to exchange skills for hospitality. Here is the step-by-step journey from application to impact.
Tell us what you can do
Whether your expertise lies in photography, writing, video, web design, teaching, hospitality, or organic farming, there is likely a rural community host in Bangladesh, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, or Mauritius who needs exactly your skills.
Get verified
We conduct a brief verification process including basic background and reference checks. Getting verified earns you a CoTraveler badge, which is what lets hosts—especially those hosting solo travelers or women—trust the person arriving in their home.
Browse and apply
Log in to browse active placements filtered by region, season, and skill requirements. Find an opportunity that fits your calendar and skillset, submit a simple placement proposal, and wait for host confirmation.
Travel and contribute
Once matched, the Together Fund covers your transport tickets. You'll receive a detailed safety and cultural briefing before departure, along with a 24-hour support hotline. You'll contribute a few hours of work each day, and the rest of your time is yours to explore.
Leave something behind
Your host receives professional photos, a working online listing, or new digital skills in their household to welcome future guests. You return home with a certificate of service, a rich portfolio, and a story that matters.
